Football fans are flocking to Brazil for the 20th FIFA World Cup, which scheduled to run in Brazil from the 12 June to the 13 July 2014.
With teams flying in from all over the world, we took a look at the luxury accommodation where some of the teams will be staying.Where they choose to stay during the World Cup can be an indicator of potential success, with some accommodations focused on preparation and others simply offering the best of the Brazilian weather and beaches.
For those hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite team, this is where some of the key teams of 2014 will be staying:
The English team will be staying at the Royal Tulip Hotel
Staying on the outskirts of Rio, the English World Cup team has opted for five-star accommodation at the Royal Tulip Hotel.
This beachside resort offers beach views from all rooms and is most regularly used by those looking for a relaxing break. Should they suffer an early exit; the English team will be able to enjoy use of the pool, sauna and hotel salon. Catering for over 3,000 guests, there is also two gourmet restaurants and a bar onsite.
The Dutch team will be staying at The Caesar Park Hotel, Rio de Janiero
The Dutch team has also selected a hotel close to the sea, with the Caesar Park Hotel sitting on Rio’s most popular beach, Ipanema. The hotel features both swimming pools and a fitness centre, but traditionally guests are more likely to be found on the beach or making the most of boat excursions and Jet Ski hire. The team will enjoy the excellent location of this luxury five star hotel, close to shopping and nightlife and will be able to make full use of the massage and restaurant facilities.
The Italian team will be staying at Portobello Resort
The Italian team will stay at the Portobello Resort, on the outskirts of Rio. As well as two full size training pitches, the Azzurri will have a floodlit volleyball court and six tennis courts to ensure that the players keep active between matches.
At 3.5 stars the accommodation offers comfortable rooms and an on-site restaurant. Set on its own private beach, guests can enjoy sea views, with some of the rooms offering direct beach access.
Brazil, Training Grounds
The Brazilian team will be based in Terespolis, outside of Rio de Janeiro. The city hosts the Brazilian Football Confederation’s training center at Granja Comary and is known as the home of the Brazilian national football team.
The accommodation boasts five football fields and has been the teams training base since it was purchased in 1978.
South Korea will stay at the Bourbon Hotel Cataratas Convention & Spa Resort
The South Korean team have chosen a more private location, staying at the 5-star Bourbon Hotel Cataratas located on the borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay.
The hotel is surrounded by lush, tropical gardens and includes two swimming pools a tennis court and a day spa. There is a restaurant and bar at the facility and the team won’t have to venture too far, with shops and boutique stores in the area.
The pool at the Tivoli Sao Paulo, where the US team will be staying
Located just 10 minutes from the centre of Sao Paulo, the American side has also opted for a peaceful getaway. Based in five-star accommodation at the Tivoli in Sao Paulo, their hotel is set in a lush garden estate and has spacious rooms with modern fittings.
The hotel boasts the largest presidential suite in Latin America and the team will be sure to recover at the hotel spa before enjoying the fine food at the luxury restaurant onsite.
The French team has chosen to stay at JP Hotel, a five star luxury resort which offers an onsite football pitch for training. The team could be a force to be reckoned with, as the hotel also offers three pools, a fitness centre as well as tennis and beach volleyball options, ensuring that the team will be in top form.
Chile – Toca da Raposa
The Chilean team will be staying in Belo Horizonte and using the facilities of the Brazilian club Cruzeiro during their stay. It’s a modern training ground that incorporates a newly refurbished hotel, complete with a restaurant and theatre.

The Australian team will be staying at the beautiful Hotel Ilha do Boi, for the duration of the 2014 World Cup.
The hotel is set on an island off the eastern coast of Brazil and boasts beautiful sunsets, relaxing ocean breezes and a piano bar. With a workout room, pool and tennis court onsite, the team will be able to concentrate on their World Cup efforts in a quiet and relaxing environment.
This four star hotel is based in the heart of Campinas and offers everything that the Portuguese team will need to be in top form for the World Cup. From a fitness centre, steam room and sauna to comfortable rooms and a heated pool, the hotel offers a comfortable base close to the airport.
The Russian team has chosen a country setting as their base for the World Cup. Located 90kms from Sao Paulo this classically designed hotel is the perfect place to relax and ensure that the team is in the right frame of mind to play. Spread over 84,000 metres, the hotel is dedicated to the wellness and relaxation of its guests.
Located in central Santos this four star hotel will be home the the Costa Rican team for the duration of the Cup. This carefully designed hotel offers the perfect leisure facilities for the team, with a fitness centre, sauna pool and Jacuzzi for their use.
Should they find that their play time is cut short; the team will be able to enjoy food and drink from the outdoor pool and indulge at the hotel bar.
Also staying in Santos, close to the the tourist hot-spots is the Mexican team. With a focus on sophistication and comfort, the hotel offers a wellness centre and spa for guests. The team will be able to enjoy the beautiful views from the rooftop pool, dine in the restaurant/bar or enjoy a hydro massage.
Japan – Spa Sport Resort Hotel
The Japanese team will be staying at the Spa Sport Resort Hotel in a building custom built for their stay. The hotel is located in Itu, Brazil.
Paradise Golf & Lake Resort, home for the Belgium Team over the World Cup
The team from Belgium will be staying at the Paradise Golf & Lake Resort, a five-star luxury resort situated in Mogi das Cruzes. Along with a spa and wellness centre, tennis courts and an indoor pool, the team will also be able to enjoy the restaurant and bar onsite. If the team happens to finish up early, they can always fill the remaining time honing up their golf skills on the hotels beautiful course, or playing pool in the billiards room.
Located in Viamo, this luxurious hotel has built a custom football field to welcome the Ecuadorian team. The sport focussed hotel offers in addition, two football fields with official measures, football field 7, volleyball court and grotto with thermal pools, spa, semi-Olympic pool. There is also a guided hiking track nearby. If the hotel is anything to go by, then Ecuador may be a force to be reckoned with.
Colombia – Sao Paulo Soccer Club Centre
Located in the nearby city of Cotia, the Colombian team will be staying at the massive training centre, usually home to the professional Sao Paulo team. The facility has 11 playing fields along with accommodation for up to 148 people.
Germany, Beachside Retreat
In the sleepy village of Santo Andre, the German World Cup team has built their own remote beachside camp. The team will call the facility – which includes 13 houses, a playing field and press centre – home for the duration of their stay. The camp, already painted in the national colours, has been set in a very remote location so as to maximise recovery and acclimatisation.
The La Torre Resort is located in Porto Seguro, Bahia, on one of Brazil’s most beautiful beaches. The all-inclusive luxury resort features tennis courts, a sauna and a private beach. The five-star accommodation has a spa and wellness centre for relaxation, as well as a wide range of outdoor activities available.
