The World’s Top 10 Hotels to Have on Your Bucket List for 2014

Capella Pedregal

Mexico’s Capella Pedregal was one of the stunning properties to make our top 10 list for 2014.

Here at the HotelsCombined offices, we can’t help but consider ourselves accommodation connoisseurs – after all, we have a database of over 800,000 hotels in over 120,000 destinations worldwide. When all is said and done, we’re quite happy to admit that we all live, breathe and dream amazing hotel stays!

And while there were a few disagreements here and there when it came time to putting together our hotel bucket list for 2014,  we still managed to whittle the group down to a handful of spectacular properties that have continually stood out over recent months.

Whether these hotels boasted amazing ratings (we aggregate over 38 million reviews on HotelsCombined), were multiple award-winners, or just had drop-dead gorgeous locations, we felt that these 10 spots were worthy of even the most discerning traveller’s itinerary. Take a look through our choices and let us know what you think!

Situated along a dramatic clifftop overlooking the ocean, Sri Panwa is one of Phuket’s most scenic resorts. There’s also plenty to see and do, with activities such as yoga, yachting, fishing and elephant trekking available upon request. We highly recommend a visit to the onsite spa – it was awarded a 2014 Spa Award by Harper’s Bazaar and was named the Best Luxury Resort Spa at the 2013 World Luxury Spa Awards.

The stunning pool bar at this five-star Mexican refuge is one of the many things we love about this property.

With each of the bedrooms and suites here offering a private terrace with plunge pools, it’s not hard to see why this Pacific Coast haven consistently makes ‘best of’ lists in travel magazines around the world.  Add to that a fully-stocked library, a state-of-the-art gym, a huge spa as well as top-notch dining options, and you’ve pretty much arrived in paradise.  The resort was recently singled out by Travel + Leisure Magazine as the top hotel in Cabo San Lucas and made Conde Nast Traveler’s 2014 Gold List.

Areias Do Seixo Charm Hotel, Portugal

We absolutely loved the unique designs of all the rooms at this boutique Portuguese property.

All of the rooms at this quirky Portuguese escape are not only cozy and warm, but also wholly original.  From “love rooms” with sea views, private terraces, a fireplace and Jacuzzis to villas with a kitchen, outdoor barbeque area and outdoor swimming pool, there’s no lack of comfort to be had here. What’s not to love about a romantic luxury hotel perched along Italy’s Amalfi Coast?

-Not enough accumulated reviews for a rating

With rooms and terraces perched 70 meters above sea level,  the panoramas at this charming Italian heritage hotel are simply magnificent.  Honeymooners would be wise to check out the ridiculously romantic rooftop Champagne and Oyster Bar, which is fragrantly decked with roses and frangipani flowers and overlooks the twinkling lights of the Amalfi Coast at nighttime. The UK’s Conde Nast Traveller magazine named Le Sirenuse to its Gold Standard Hotels list in 2013.
